Excel your career at Avanti

Excel your career at Avanti.

To attract, develop and retain exceptional people is of utmost importance for our clients and us. We believe in the following philosophy regardless if you see consulting as a great stepping stone for your future career or as a long term career:

Interesting projects. People in our recruitment process often say that they are impressed with how many fun and exciting projects and clients we have (and we couldn’t agree more!). We work hard to deliver exceptional client value, and our clients like working with us. This pays off in exciting projects with real client impact. See our client stories to find out more about or exciting projects.

Part of building something new. As a consulting firm, we thrive on change for our clients. Similarly, we need to be able to change ourselves to improve constantly. We continuously need to build our own company as we go. Being part of Avanti is to like and support the process of creating something new. We are an open-minded company, and everyone should share their ideas and express their opinions to build a better company.

Fun place to work and great colleagues. At Avanti, working in teams is our preferable mode regardless of sales, client projects, or internal work. Teamwork is, of course, more enjoyable with great colleagues. A great colleague is someone you can share ideas and problems with as well as relax and have a great time with. We do several team activities to get to know each other better, from skiing in the Alpes to a dinner at the cozy restaurant next door. At Avanti, we have a very familiar atmosphere at work.

Life-balance. Life-balance for us is not so much about how many hours you are working but more of being able to manage your own time. This comes down to clearly defined assignments (including roles, responsibilities and expectations), focus on things that matter and have respect for everyone’s time. We put a lot of trust in all our consultants to take responsibility for their own work rather than micromanage. Life-balance may also be to have the flexibility to gear up or down over time depending on life situation.

Development & training. The best way to develop as a consultant, in our experience, is in a client project. Our experienced consultants have an important role in these projects to develop the more junior consultants from a generic consulting skill and industry/functional perspective. We also have a strong feedback culture where everyone gives and receives feedback regardless of seniority. All consultants also have a mentor which supports each individual in their career. Finally, we provide relevant internal and external training to all of our consultants. External training can be online or physical and past years training includes courses at Stockholm School of Economics as well as Columbia University in New York.

The right attitude. An Avanti consultant shall have a solid drive to deliver client value and a willingness to excel. You should be curious and eager to learn new things. Moreover, it would help if you dared to challenge and lead the client in, e.g., workshops and meetings. Yet you should have a team-oriented mindset towards the client as well as your colleagues. Finally, you should be entrepreneurial and want to be part of building something new. Who said it was easy to become a consultant?

Track record. Candidates should have a solid academic track record from a well-renowned university, preferably in business and/or engineering. Senior hires should have a strong track record from management consulting or similar experience in strategy, business development, and transformation line management roles.

Appropriate skills. Appropriate skills will depend on seniority. However, everyone needs to have generic consulting skills in place. This includes, e.g., strong communication skills, analytical skills, and an ability to build effective presentations. Other merits include relevant training in, e.g., agile methods such as SAFe. With increased seniority comes increased expectations on sales, the capability to manage larger teams, and subject matter expertise. A subject matter expertise could be linked to our services, an industry, or a functional focus.
