The Cost of Outdated Accounting Regulations

As of January 1, 2025, Trinovo Consulting has become part of Avanti, and this report was written by Trinovo before the merger.

On behalf of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, Trinovo has conducted an investigation into what it costs Swedish companies to archive accounting material in its original form.

In 2020, the Government appointed the investigation into a Simpler regulatory framework for micro-enterprises and a more modern Accounting Act, di 2020:48. The investigation will, among other things, propose the relief that is considered necessary in the requirement that accounting information must be preserved in its original form. Particular attention will be paid to cases where the original material consists of paper receipts or other paper documents.

In order for the ongoing investigation to get as accurate a picture as possible of the costs incurred by the requirements for handling accounting material in paper form, a study has been carried out to identify and assess the costs incurred by the requirements.
